Minyagangi? Guwaagi Gamangi Ngurrambaa Aboriginal Corporation are looking to step up our language work this year, producing new resources and running community language classes and camps across our Country. To help make this work happen, we are offering a number of both short term and longer term positions. Language Project Coordinator

This position will work 2 days a week for the next 2 years coordinating delivery of our language program across Ngarabul and Yugambul Country. The work will include organising and delivering weekly community classes in multiple locations, organising and facilitating monthly language camps, and working with the Language Worker to develop resources and plan language activities. The right person will have:

  • Experience in language work with Ngarabul and Yugambul language, including delivery of language classes
  • Strong language knowledge of the Ngarabul and Yugambul language
  • Organisational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant language teaching methods and approaches
  • Understanding of and connection to communities across our region
  • Strong cultural connections to Ngarabul and Yugambul Country

Language Worker

This position will work an average of 1 day a week for the next 12 months developing language resources in consultation with elders and community members, learning language and developing skills in language teaching and delivery. The right person will have:

  • Good language knowledge and experience learning the Ngarabul and Yugambul language
  • Experience in developing learning resources, ideally language-related
  • Experience in facilitating and delivering language activities in Ngarabul and Yugambul
  • Ability to be on Country regularly to deliver language activities
  • Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of age groups and sectors of the community
  • Strong cultural connections to Ngarabul or Yugambul Country
  • A demonstrated passion for language and desire to become a strong speaker of our Language and pass language on to others

Accounts Officer

This position will work 4 hours every fortnight for the next two years ensuring that all invoices are inputted into the accounting system and paid, accounts are reconciled and financial reporting is up to date. Ideally, they will be able to help with setting up the systems and developing the capacity for the organisation to grow in the long-term. The right person will have:

  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g. MYOB or Xero)
  • Experience with accounts payable and receivable
  • Experience with reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Understanding of tax, insurance and financial obligations

Proofreader

This is a short-term contract position for a 6 week period to proofread our language dictionary and grammar before it goes to the printers. You will need to read over each page thoroughly, checking for any spelling and grammar mistakes, checking for readability, and checking all internal cross-references to make sure they are valid. You will need to be able to complete the work promptly and reliably to ensure printing deadlines are met, and be able to start immediately. The right person will have:

  • Excellent reading, writing and comprehension skills
  • Ability to clearly identify any changes that need to be made
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
